I have been gardening for about 8 years now. I really enjoy the hobby and it is a therapeutic activity for me especially since I spend most of my day at my desk. Although gardening is enjoyable; there is one part of it that drives me crazy-rabbits. I do like to watch the rabbits chasing each other and enjoying the outdoors but I get very upset when they eat my new plants or flowers. How do you stop the rabbits from eating your plants that you work so hard to get growing? Some of my neighbors catch them in a live trap and transport them elsewhere. We do not choose this method.
I have been told that putting human hair around your plants will keep the rabbits away. I haven't tried this method but it is worth a try if you have extra hair laying around (after a haircut). You might also try mixes from your local garden store (but often expensive). The easiest method I have found is sprinking black pepper around your plants. I reapply after a rain. I always have pepper around the house so it is an easy and (most of the time) very effective method of keeping rabbits away from my small tender plants. The other positive part is that the pepper is safe for my kids and pets who may get into contact with the pepper.
